Our Goal
Thank you for your interest in our chapter. We promote and enjoy the purebred Dutch
KFPS / FHANA Friesian horse
and would be delighted to include you.
Who We Are
The South Central Friesian Horse Association, SCFHA,
is a not-for-profit chapter of the Friesian Horse Association of North America, FHANA,
established March 2005 with many years of Friesian experience by our
members. The FHANA (est. 1984) is the North American
affiliate of the worldwide Dutch Friesian studbook KFPS (Koninklijke
Vereniging Het Friesch Paarden-Stamboek, est. 1879). Members in good
standing of the FHANA can join together to form a FHANA chapter (group)
to help promote the purebred Dutch Friesian in their geographical area
following the FHANA / KFPS regulations. Currently we cover the states of
Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Mississippi, Louisiana, Kansas, Arizona, and Arkansas--with
a main presence in Texas--but that can be
expanded or diminished depending on the members' needs. You can read all
about starting up a chapter on the FHANA website. Our chapter was
initiated by Anneke van den
IJssel and Bre Dorsett and
currently has an enthusiastic mailing list of some 50 member households,
reaching some 200 households if we include the cooperation we have with other FHANA chapters.
Visit our Classifieds,
Keuring,
Links, and Photo Gallery pages for
more information on our members.
What We Do
As a chapter we share information,
educate, network, have fun, promote our horses and services, support our
studbook and make
our chapter what we want and need it to be following the FHANA / KFPS
guidelines. Visit the News and Meetings
page and the Events page for more information on activities and news.
Our Passion
The purebred Dutch Friesian is a cultural treasure
with a rich and long history. Visit The
Friesian Horse page and let the history and the horse capture your
heart.
Who Can Join
We welcome anyone who loves Friesians to join us from
inside or outside our geographical area and any horse is welcome on play days,
however, only KFPS / FHANA registered horses may be part of our official
demos and those participating / actively advertising need to be Full members
in good standing of the FHANA and our chapter. For information on Full
and Associate memberships please visit the
Membership page.

Geographical Area
At this time we include the states of TX, OK, NM,
MS, LA, KS, AZ, and AR since non of these states are represented by
a FHANA chapter yet and could benefit from our main presence in
Texas working with active clusters in the satellite states. If at
any time one or more states wanted to start up their own chapter we
would adjust our area of coverage.

There are quite a few membership benefits, whether
you will actively join in or just enjoy reading our communications.
