Keuring

In 2008, we are again part of the Central Circuit and our day is Tuesday September 30. The keuring will again take place at www.StargateSportHorses.com in Argyle TX north of Dallas/Ft. Worth) and is organized by our chapter. You may find the full schedule with contact info per site on the FHANA website along with general information from the Keuring Committee and the sign-up form. Deadline for keuring registration with FHANA to avoid late fees is July 31! Experienced runners will be provided for each site. The judges are not known yet for the circuits. South Central will send out invitations to those participating with details on all the fees involved (FHANA fee, facility fee, vet fees, runner fees, etc.), driving directions, things to bring (Coggins & Health Cert. for each horse!), concession information, entry forms, etc. If you are planning to attend the Texas inspection or would like to help with volunteer jobs please contact our Coordinator Charlotte Dumford at castlekeepers@msn.com, tel. 469 223 8678. Once we receive the list of participants from FHANA (expected some time in August) we will mail out the keuring invites to those who signed up for Texas.

A big THANK YOU to all who made our Texas 2007 KFPS inspection the huge success it was. Here is a Thank-You note from our keuring coordinator Charlotte Dumford. "Thank you all for a wonderful keuring experience! Our 2007 Texas Keuring was a great success, and the judges and runners alike commented favorably on the way our keuring was organized, our people, and the quality of our horses. We have an amazing club whose members work together so well and work for the good of the entire club. We could not have been successful without the combined efforts of all of our members, but I want to say a special word of thanks to several people.

First of all, thanks to Paul and Julee Kula for arranging the catering, the judges transportation, the day champion plaques, for their hospitality in providing overnight accommodations for me and John, and much, much more!

Special thanks to Marvel Jeffcoat for her great job as volunteer coordinator. Marvel solicited volunteers and made sure everyone knew their tasks and kept on the job!

Thanks also to Angela for the dirty work of making sure the participants arrived at the gate area on time, ready to show so that the keuring flowed smoothly without delay. Rudi and Dan were the strong men on the gates letting everyone in and out! Thanks to you both for performing these tasks!

Thanks to Anneke for announcing the horses. Proper pronunciation gave a nice little extra bit of Dutch flavor! Announcement kudos also to Damon Hawkins who filled in when Anneke needed to get her own horses ready!

Of course we also must remember our runners with gratitude. God only knows how they keep it going time after time in this heat with so many horses! Thanks guys, for the hardest job of all! Special thanks to John Haller for being our emergency medic. You hope never to have a crisis, but when you do, it is wonderful to have such a calm, expert presence on the scene.

On a personal note, John and I would like to especially thank Alex and Damon, Lauri and Mitch, Shannon Gulsby and Grant and Linda Dorsett. Grant and Linda graciously offered to come out of their way to pick up Betsy so we wouldn't have to make a second trip back and forth to Stargate. They also hauled her and all of our chairs home afterwards! Way above and beyond the call of duty!

Alex and Damon, Shannon, Mitch and Lauri all helped us with the 2 mares and foals when it was our time to show. Not sure we would have gotten them into the ring without the calm help of all of these folks who did last minute brushing and leading!

A dvd of the inspection is available for $75 in cash or by check for the 3-dvd set of the whole inspection or if you wanted to for just of your horse(s). Both are the same price.
